On Saturday 29th December in Our Lady Queen of Poland Convent, Marayong the sisters spent a prayerful afternoon with families and friends of our Congregation.
We began with the celebration of the Eucharist with Fr Joshy Parrapully ofmcap as the main celebrant. In his homily Fr Joshy said that “holy” means to be set apart. The Holy Family was holy because it was set apart for a special task, a special purpose. Sr Grazyna Roclawska commented on Facebook, “I like this explanation. This means we all have the call for Holiness, because we are all set apart for a special purpose.”
After the Eucharist we enjoyed our time together and the delicious cakes that Marietta Gomez made for this special occasion.
During the holy hour in the sisters’ chapel we prayed with gratitude for our families, loved ones and friends. We held in prayer families who were experiencing trials and difficulties in their life and entrusted them to the Holy Family.
We concluded our celebration of the Vigil of the Feast of the Holy Family with an evening meal intertwined with Christmas Carols sung in different languages.
On this special day I wish to share with you the words of our Mother Foundress, Blessed Mary of Jesus the Good Shepherd:
“And so I imagined our life in Nazareth, a life of love-externally: work, duty, a total self-dedication, doing all in answer to God’s will – always cordially, graciously, freely and without resistant so as to lead all to Christ and within the soul the deepest union with God. That is the life lived by Jesus in Nazareth. Outwardly a life of ordinary simplicity, hard labour, inwardly a life of deepest union with the Father and the Holy Spirit.” (Journal: February 12, 1885).
