Sr Rita Marie Apura
Sister Rita Apura was born in 1979 in Iloilo, Philippines and entered the Congregation in 1999, in Manila, Philippines.
In 2003, a year after First Profession, Sister was asked to come and support the mission in Australia. Prior to arriving in Australia, Sister worked in the parish at Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Antipolo, Philippines, in Pastoral Care and Family Ministry. In 2004, Sister arrived in Australia, and whilst studying, she was involved in various ministries in a voluntary capacity.
Sr Rita professed her perpetual vows in 2009 in Sydney. In the same year, Sister finished her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at the Australian Catholic University in Brisbane.
Sister has taken on various ministries in Brisbane and in Sydney. She served for a church-based ministry and a not-for profit organisation, and has worked in family ministry, administration, youth ministry, aged support, and supervising students during their organisational practicum. In 2014, Sister received certification in Clinical Pastoral Education and has since worked as a Chaplain at Westmead and Blacktown Hospitals. In January 2017, Sister commenced serving the Congregation as the Secretary/Councillor for the Holy Spirit Province.
