Celebrating 25 Years of God's Faithfulness: A Joint Reflection on the Silver Jubilee in the Philippines

Writer: Srs Christine and JeremiahSrs Christine and Jeremiah

As they mark the occasion of their Silver Jubilee, both Sr. Christine and Sr. Jeremiah reflect on the profound significance of this milestone in their religious lives. Celebrating 25 years in the Congregation is not just a personal achievement but a collective testament to God’s faithfulness and the invaluable support they have received from family, friends, and their religious community.

The Sisters' request to celebrate the Silver Jubilee in the Philippines stemmed from a shared desire to gather with those who have journeyed with them throughout their lives in religious vocation. The Sisters celebrated alongside their formation sisters, who were integral to their early years of religious life. Together, they reminisced and renewed their commitment to their calling, surrounded by the warmth of friendship and shared experiences. This celebration served as a heartfelt thanksgiving for God’s faithfulness and a recognition of the supportive community that has surrounded them.

In preparation for their Jubilee celebrations, they took time to engage in spiritual renewal. Sr. Christine spent time on retreat, reflecting on her journey and deepening her commitment to her vocation. Prior to the Manila celebration, she also dedicated a week to family and participated in a six-day retreat at the Bethany Retreat House in Quezon City with Fr. Faiq Edmerson Quinto, OSJ. This time of contemplation allowed both Sisters to center themselves spiritually and appreciate the profound significance of this milestone. The retreat experience served as a reminder of their purpose and the call they have embraced.

The highlights of their Jubilee celebrations were rich and diverse. For Sr. Christine, reuniting with her formation sisters was a deeply moving experience. She expressed gratitude for the presence of family members who travelled to share in the joy, as well as the friends from Australia who joined the celebration. For Sr. Jeremiah, the gathering of relatives, Sisters from the Philippine Province, and old acquaintances rekindled her passion and commitment to her vocation.

Looking ahead, both Sisters are excited about their upcoming Silver Jubilee celebration in the Holy Spirit Province, Australia. They plan to hold a special Mass at the Polish War Memorial Chapel in Marayong with Rev. Bishop Brian Mascord, DD, as the main celebrant, followed by a fellowship that will include Provincial Superiors from various countries who are coming to Australia for their annual gathering, Sisters from different convents, and young adults considering a religious vocation. This gathering will not only be a celebration of their journey but also an opportunity to inspire others and express gratitude for the community that has been pivotal in their lives. Stay tuned for more details of the event.

Both Sr. Christine and Sr. Jeremiah express that their hearts are filled with gratitude for the past 25 years of religious life, the companionship of their Sisters, and the unwavering support from their families and friends. This celebration was a powerful reminder of God’s goodness and faithfulness. With renewed commitment, they continue their journey, confident that God will lead them forward.
