Sr Amata Nowaszewska was our guest speaker on the recent province gathering. We asked her some questions regarding her stay in Australia. Here is what she shared with us.
You spent a few weeks in Australia and had an opportunity to meet all the sisters from NSW and WA. Was there something that surprised you? How did you find the diversity of our communities here?
What struck me most is your commitment to the mission. How is it that 22 Sisters can do so much? I had beautiful talks with many Sisters, and I could see your involvement during the recent Province Gathering. Not a single Sister is indifferent or treats the mission half-heartedly, which is so inspiring to me. As you do, the society in Australia and the people you minister to come from many countries and cultures. It is both rich and challenging. And you can help because you have been right there: you have experienced the richness and challenge of a multicultural community.
During your stay, you delivered great sessions about our Mother Foundress to the sisters and
workers at the sponsored ministry, Holy Family Services. Do you recall any significant moments from those encounters?
I was happy to see the listeners' interest. Among theHFS staff present were people of other religions than Roman Catholics, and somehow, there was something we could share or learn from one another. As for the Province Gathering, I received positive feedback from Sisters of various backgrounds. It is important to me; it is sound proof that our Mother Foundress unites us.
We did our best to show you a bit of Australia and fit it between the meetings and your own work you have been doing remotely. What are your impressions about this part of the Land Down Under? Do you have any favourite places?
You made me feel at home. Jesus said that whoever leaves his home and family for the sake of God' s kingdom will receive much more. I just feel I have gained more homes and deepened my sisterly relationship with you. I am fascinated by Australia's unique nature. I also liked the city of Sydney because it combined modernity, history, civilisation, and
nature. I will carry with me the beautiful views. I will also remember the experience at the Hyde Park Barrack Museum, which helped me better understand Australian history.

How you minister in the HFS Age Care has been eye-opening for me. I was so impressed by your profound respect for everybody, your gentleness, your ability to treat everybody individually, and your creativity in engaging all the residents in some activities that
would bring them happiness. Last but not least, your great care for their spiritual well-being. It is something others can learn from you.
